Le Puy Maury B&B is located in the Haute Vienne (on the border with the Creuse and the Corrèze), in the middle of the regional park ''Millevache en Limousin''. It offers a relaxing landscape with lakes and hedgerows, Gargan mountain and the valley of the Vienne. Also plenty of sightseeing for the culture lover; the many Romanesque buildings, churches, castles and medieval towns and villages.
Our bed and breakfast is situated in the natural park ''Millevache en Limousin''. The place to be for lovers of rugged and unspoilt nature; with low mountains, rivers, forests, dams, meadows and valleys. There are numerous walking and cycling routes for the beginner to advanced.
If desired, you can order a picnic basket, so you can enjoy various delicacies along the way. Directly from the b&b there is a walking route of 7 and 14 kilometres and a walking route of 30 minutes.
In the vicinity there are many special villages that exude real traditional French culture. A few of these villages are even on the list of most beautiful villages in France (Les plus beaux villages de France) where you can enjoy a nice lunch.
A few minutes by car you will find Lake St. Helena (60 ha) with various water sports: canoeing, water skiing, fishing, sailing. A playground for children, shady beach and marked hiking trails (mountain biking, hiking and horseback riding). Facilities available: toilets, first aid station, internet point.
A little further (20 minutes) you will find Lac de Vassivière. One of the largest artificial lakes in France (1000 hectares) with 5 beaches and also various facilities and restaurants.
In addition to picturesque villages, the Limousin also has charming towns to offer. Limoges is the capital; a historic city full of beautiful sights. Such as Cathedrale St-Etienne and botanical garden, the recently restored 19th century market hall, the medieval Quartier de la Boucherie, and the modern porcelain museum Musée National de la Porcelaine A. Dubouché. It's also great shopping in the historic centre.
Brive-la-Gaillarde, Tulle and Uzerche are also well worth a visit.
Visit one of the many markets in the region. There are weekly (fresh) markets with local products but also various attic and broker markets. Stroll along the stalls and taste traditional delicacies and take home a nice souvenir.
In the Millvache Nature Park you can find the largest continuous network for mountain bikers. These are among the most beautiful cycling routes in France. Because of the great diversity there is something for everyone. From beginner to expert.
At an altitude of 731 meters you can enjoy a 360 degree view of the surroundings. With moors, peat bogs, ancient beech avenues and remains of the Notre Dame de Bon Secours chapel.
Very nice for the children to discover the area on the back of a donkey. Beautiful route of 2 km with a treasure hunt along the way. If you have found everything you will get a present when you return.
Also worth a visit are the aquarium of Limoges, Zoo Reynou (castle with landscaped gardens and 130 animal species) and the insect museum in Nedde. Or discover the climbing forest ''d'arbre en arbre Vassivière''.
Eymoutiers has a train station. It is therefore possible to reach the TGV with Limoges and from here take a regular train. We offer a pick-up service. See accessibility.
In the summer there is a special 50s steam train. On a railway that leads to Ussel, the Limoges-Eymoutiers line offers many attractions for travelers of all ages. In a pristine environment, numerous viaducts are followed by tunnels and exceptional views.
Our bed and breakfast is located in the heart of the Millevache natural park, or thousand sources; the place for a fishing holiday. The water is of excellent quality. For example, salmon, trout, pike, zander and riverfish are present in the rivers, streams and lakes. You can fish all year round.
Visit the impressive remains of the village of Oradour -sur-Glane. This is where the Nazis massacred in June 1944.
General De Gaulle did not want the village to be rebuilt after the war. It was to serve as a warning for future generations. "Souviens-toi", don't forget, is on a sign at the entrance.
The above is just a selection of the possibilities. We are happy to tell you more about it! Please contact us for more information.
